Bob the Rescue Cat
The Xray showed no signs of any internal damage, we decided not to put Bob through any more investgations and to try to stress him as little as possible and hope that he would improve. We had a brief enquiry from the rescue during the first few weeks after taking Bob and we said that we were having some problems, at the time we had not had the Xray done so were unable to elaborate on the situation. However, after several courses of various medications, natural and prescription drugs, our new vet suggested that if we could find out who had previously treated Bob we may be able to find out something which would assist him with helping him further. An e.mail was duly sent off to the rescue asking for any information on Bob that was available, even if only the name of a vet who had previously treated him. I explained the reasons we needed the information, and emphasised the need to avoid giving Bob injections which were not really essential and keeping the trips to the vet to a minimum in order to avoid stressing him. I received a reply with contact details for the rescue in Ireland where he had been staying before he came to England so that I could contact them directly. We needed to ascertain the status of his vaccinations as we had a holiday booked and needed to arrange boarding for him for September so I sent a couple of e.mails to the Irish rescue, and, receiving no reply, I phoned them. They confirmed that Bob had been taken to TV vet Pete Wedderburn who at the time, had a programme on Irish TV. Bob was treated for his injury, his tail amputated and he was neutered. He was kept at the rescue until being taken to England, having been featured on the TV programme as needing a home, but without any success. The Irish rescue (ASH) confirmed that they had been told by their vet that Bob was approx. 8 - 10 years old and that he would not have been vaccinated while he was in their care and it was highly unlikely that it would have been done before he was taken to them. The advert on CatChat said he was vaccinated and 5 years old.
